Silhouettes Saves The Day At The Luxury Spot Gala!

(This is Mademoiselle's assistant...she's still snoring away in the other room while I'm playing catchup with all of this stuff.)

The Luxury Spot Gala Fashion Week Kick-Off Party on Thursday was a triumph! Beauteous Bryce Gruber brought together the most stylish crowd ever, right in the midst of Fashion's Night Out insanity.

If there is one thing you can count on during New York Fashion Week, it's hundreds of young women in black micro-mini frocks and this fall, amazingly high heels.

I was in an absolute STATE because, to go with my gown (a strapless print floor-length silk with a high front slit) I had ordered a pair of gorgeous black lace peep-toe pumps from Silhouettes.com.

Then I received an email that they would not be delivered until:

SEPTEMBER 22nd!

L'indignation! Le nerf! I made my displeasure known, and a delightful young woman in Customer Service not only overnighted the shoes, but included a postage paid envelope to return the second pair! My evening was saved!

The party was held at the Aspen Social Club on West 47th Street, and when I say the free champagne was flowing freely...

Let's just say that I don't remember much after the third glass. Although I have hazy memories of "snogging" with a handsome gentleman in the hotel's back lobby, a wonderland of white leather couches and crystal hanging lights. If one is going to be in a champagne-induced haze, one might as well do it properly.

Silhouette's New Holiday Line: Plus Size Glitz & Glam

Before all of this Cintra Wilson nonsense, I had the good fortune to be invited by the lovely people at Silhouettes to take a sneak peek at what they have in store for the paying customers for the holidays. So I packed Bucky into his black Chanel carrier and off we went, into the bowels of midown Manhattan.

What first caught my eye was all of the très en vogue des chaussures! (You must know by now that I have a weakness for footwear.) And fashion-forward boots. Dozens of pairs of adorable flats, stylish heels, I could go on and on. All in double-wide sizes, which as my faithful readers know, means a great deal to moi! My only regret is that this picture of these delightful jewel-embellished flats is not in better focus. Although as usual, Bucky the Wonderdog photographs perfectly.

Here are some wonderfully on-trend riding boots, the first pair made of a combination of leather and cotton twill:

Many pieces had touches of beading, stones and glitz, such as the top of this cream blouse, trimmed in transparent stones. Chunky vintage-style jewelry was very much in evidence, as were a variety of prints from floral to abstract. There were also blouses in gold and black sequins; your faithful correspondent is a sucker for flash.

There was a great deal of rich royal purple in the collection, such as the sweater below. Also many swirling gray pieces, mainly coats and toppers. This black and white herringbone outfit with its pencil skirt and open front jacket is tres chic, (although your faithful correspondent would put a more flamboyant top underneath).

As mentioned, this Chanel-inspired ribbed cotton sweater caught my eye, detailed with high-quality metal buttons.

Again, one wishes this photo of this magnificent dark red swing coat did it justice. Not only does it have a HUGE flare from the tailored shoulders, the back is detailed with matching large buttons!

Even Cintra Wilson would be hard-put to say anything negative about this collection. Although I am certain she would. But as for yours truly, these beautiful clothes make contemplating the holiday season just a bit less unbearable.

Glamourous Wide Width Shoes At Silhouettes!

To paraphrase, the agony of the feet! Particularly large feet. I have my shoes custom-made, of course. (The people at Tecasan moaned and groaned about finding a last large enough, so I took my business to Mahnolo Blahnik.)

For those of us who have the misfortune to have WW feet, pretty, feminine shoes are extremely hard to come by. Oxfords, loafers, boating shoes, or men's sneakers tend to be our choices. (Particularly when you wear 11WW, as I do.)

However, I found these delightful, sexy shoes on the Silhouettes website. And no, this is not a paid blog post; I do not accept those. I am writing about these shoes because I like them, no other motive. I want to share them with other women who may not have the largesse to have their shoes custom-made. (Simply doing my part for the proletariat!)
