"Vintage Fashion Accessories" A Book With A BRILLIANT Forward!

DAHLINGS -

In the interest of full disclosure, I must confess that I wrote the forward to this simply amazing book.

And while my forward is breathtaking in its wit and conciseness, once you have finished gasping in amaze at my brilliance, you will find that "Vintage Fashion Accessories" by Stacy LoAlbo(Krause Publishers, 2009) actually lives up to the forward. It is a guide on how modern women can add accessories to their existing wardrobe.

Modern clothing accessorized with vintage hat and jewelry

1950s Rendezvous compact with movable hand that indicates daily activities!

The photography alone is breathtaking: real women of all ages (including Ms. LoAlbo and her daughter!) modeling luscious vintage bags, shoes, jewelry and many other pretties along with modern clothing. (My favorite section is on vintage hats--you have never seen such an extensive collection of wonderful chapeaus!)

1950s pink straw hat with velvet ribbon

Stacy LoAlbo writes knowledgeably about her topic--it is not for nothing that she is called "The Vintage Maven"--even about men's accessories. She owns a vintage store called Incogneeto and sells online as well.

The author

This book is delicious eye candy for the vintage lover and educational for would-be vintage lovers and fashionable men and woman everywhere.

Glamorous Holiday Dresses And More!

DAHLINGS -

As per my previous entry, my maid has quite recovered from finding Jesus Christ in the kitchen. Although she is convinced that the sharp cheddar has been "blessed" and refuses to let the chef make brocoli vapeur avec sauce au fromage.

Be that as it may, we have a beautiful selection of holiday dresses, both vintage and modern, at Elisa's Bodacious House of Style on (ugh) Ebay. And because of the holiday season, we promise to ship two days after you buy, so that you may have it for any soiree you need to attend.

First, this exquisite Jovani off the shoulder beaded black and silver gown, size XL:

Next, a strapless purple and lilac gown by Michaelango, with a built-in crinoline, size 14:

Soon to be listed, an amazing silk cheongsam from the 1920s, never worn until now:

From the 1940s, a gorgeous lace-trimmed black wrap dress, size M/L:

Of course, a woman needs accessories to wear with her finery, so we are listing jewelry as fast as we can! For instance, this hand-knotted antique string of glass pearls:

Or this vintage "dog collar" black crystal necklace by Laguna:

And so the gentlemen don't feel neglected, this soon to be listed pair of sterling silver cufflinks by Swank:

Do hurry over to the shop and grab these things before someone else does!

Vintage Jewelry and Vintage Plus Size Dresses for YOU!

DAHLINGS -

I don't make it a habit of writing idiotic titles like the one above, but one must bow to the almighty search bots. My pet peeve is ads that state "the (insert here) you love". How do they know if I love comfort, or rubber, or burlap? Impertinence, say I.

Ahem.

I am listing beautiful plus-size vintage dresses on (ugh) Ebay, as well as Christmas gifts for milady. And many have FREE shipping. Here is a small selection to whet your appetite:

A beautiful gold satin flocked silk dress for the taller woman, XL B45

http://tinyurl.com/yju2knt

From the 1930s, a feminine flowered cotton dress, M/L with a gored skirt and large Bakelite buttons:

http://tinyurl.com/y93pg9t

A stunning 1940s black silk dress, also for the taller woman, with a wide v-collar front and back, and black button trim around the collar and along one hip:

A vintage lightweight goldtone "statement" necklace, so on-trend!

The Magic Of Vintage Jewelry!

DAHLINGS -

I have an array of vintage costume and fine jewelry on my sites, and it behooves me to share some of my riches with you! Nothing makes me happier than diamond earrings, unless it's a pair of vintage Coro rhinestone danglers that practically hit my shoulders! Who gives a fig if they're faux as long as they are fabulous? Not I!

Over on (ugh) Ebay, this adorable Napier goldtone and faux pearl brooch:

Straight from the 1960s comes this on-trend chunky necklace, made of faux amber and black beads:

Another chunky necklace, this one all in goldtone and quite elaborate (and ending soon!):

For those of you who require the real thing, here is a large 14k gold Victorian ring with a cameo in a Navette setting--truly spectacular!

And another cameo, this one a shell cameo brooch set in 800 silver, with a gold vermeil wash, that can also be used as a pendant, also from the turn of the century and probably Italian:

You can find all of these at http://stores.ebay.com/Elisas-Bodacious-House-of-Style.com

Over at the Mad Fashionista's Plus Size Boutique on Fashiondig, we have this beautiful Royal Doulton porcelain brooch and earring set:

The link is to your right, so please do go shopping and buy yourself some pretties!

Diamonds Are A Woman's Best Friend!

DAHLINGS -

I simply had to rephrase that famous line, because as Rita Hayworth put it, "I've never thought of myself as a girl."

However, 'tis true, there is nothing like the sparkle and shimmer of real diamonds, although fine quality rhinestones come awfully close.

This is written because I have up for auction on (ugh) Ebay a beautiful antique diamond ring, with seven European-cut diamonds channel set in 14k white gold. And it's a size 9, which is quite large! Recently I have come into the possession of quite a bit of fine jewelry, which I am selling on both of my sites (one must spread the wealth, you know.)

This is the ring, done in the "bow" style, I believe it is called:

http://tinyurl.com/6j5u62

Over at The Mad Fashionista's Vintage & Modern on Specialist Auctions, I don't have any diamonds just now, but there are two necklaces made to be worn over a spray-on tan. First is a gorgeous platinum over sterling silver chain necklace, with a genuine amethyst pendant, accented with 14k gold!

http://www.specialistauctions.com/auctiondetails.php?id=722074

And, listed at an INSANELY reasonable price, a beautiful vintage 80s choker made of coral, mother of pearl, and gold-filled spacers:

I do hope that you like what you see, because there is more to come!

Pretties To Buy Tomorrow at My LIVE Appearance!

DAHLINGS -

As you know from the entry below, I shall be appearing LIVE tomorrow night, Thursday, January 17th, at the Broadway Comedy Club as part of The Three Tomatoes Comedy Event!

What you don't know is that I will be offering some gorgeous things for sale! And my latest personal assistant, a very competent young woman, will be helping out (you don't think I'd go onstage without having my things protected, do you? There will also be a bodyguard, but he will be extremely inconspicuous. Unless you try to snatch something off of my table. Then things could become...um...just a tad unpleasant.)

Here is a just a small sampling to tempt you, so remember to bring cash and your checkbook!

Vintage 60s mink hat:

Vintage micromosaic bracelet:

Vintage gold fabric purse with novelty close:

Antique Mother of Pearl cameo pendant:

Vintage Corocraft brooch:

A cornucopia of scarves, some New With Tags, by Burberry, Vera, Echo, and others, including this thick, luscious silk velvet double-sided shawl!

And oh, so much more! My assistant is laboring even as we speak to get everything in TOP condition! And I'm going to get my hair done...that is exhausting, dahlings!

See you tomorrow!

Elisa (sans Bucky the Wonderdog, I'm afraid, they have rules)

Christmas At The Bodacious House of Style!

DAHLINGS -

It's that time of year again...fighting the holiday crowds, only to find out that the "hot" gadget you intended to purchase for your child/spouse/mistress/pet is sold out and on backorder until February. Why waste your time with gifts anyone can give (assuming they can find them)? And why on EARTH waste your "face time" in clothes that anyone else could be wearing? Hasn't that happened to Laura Bush on several occasions?

That is why the most sensible solution, insensé enfants, is to shop with moi. At both of my locations you will find the most unusual things, accent on the unusual.

For instance, shortly to be listed, these size 11 woman's black pleather platform heel boots, size 11:
sold!

(Don't ask. They're from a part of my past I prefer not to talk about.) And these simply charming porcelain floral earrings and brooch set by Royal Doulton:

And for the trendy woman, here is one of several silver and gold metallic purses I have at the House of Style:

Turning to fashion, you will be the belle of the ball (or at least, the queen of the barbeque) in this slinky wool number trimmed with red Ultrasuede, size XXL:

For the more classically minded, there is this elegant creation by Parnes-Feinstein, also size XXL:

Turning to Bodaciously Yours Vintage, take a look at this wonderfully Mod wool suit made in London by Alexon:

SOLD!

Not to mention this rich blue wool boucle' double-breasted 60s vintage coat with novelty buttons:

SOLD!

As you can see, there is an absolute UNIVERSE of ideas! And much more to come!

Exquisite Vintage Jewelry, Coming Soon!

DAHLINGS -

Yes, it's summer, it's hot out, you don't even want to THINK about buying clothes. But vintage jewelry is always cool, pardon the pun, and I will be listing a great deal of it over the next week. Here are some treats to come, so please do stop by my (ugh) Ebay store! (Don't worry, it's not contagious.)

A set of large vintage amber earrings, with bezel-set rhinestones rimming the center:

A Victorian sterling silver brooch, with a dark red bohemian garnet:

Currently listed--a genuine sterling silver Navaho brooch with a magnificent turquoise center:

Also currently listed--two Monet items, a pair of goldtone chainlink earrings and a lovely ruby red circle brooch:

There will also be a PLETHORA of necklaces, rhinestone earrings, and later in the season, sterling silver pieces by such masters as Ed Levin!
